Our HMS library media specialist has pulled together a variety of summer reading resources on the HMS library website (https://sites.google.com/a/hampsteadschools.net/libraryhms/home). 📚 In addition to reading fliers, there is an interactive summer reading website (https://padlet.com/connorsd2/summer-reading-2024-vkz1ffasuriys2wr). where potential comments are reviewed by Mrs. Connors prior to being added to the website. 📚 If you have a rising freshman, there is a reading flier tailored to this age. All titles on the rising freshmen flier are available in the Hampstead Public Library's collection. 📚 Happy reading! 📚 Diane Connors HMS Library Media Specialist

The boys hawks lacrosse team traveled to Hudson yesterday to compete in the Tri-County Division 2 Championship game against a very competitive PMA team. The boys played their hearts out but unfortunately fell short losing 9-8. Landon O stood on his head in net keeping the Hawks in the game. Myles B and Quinn B both had hat tricks while Cam S scored two. The boys proudly finished second, in their inaugural season at HMS which is an incredible feat. Hold your heads high boys, you earned it.

In conjunction with the Grade 5 Medieval and Middle Ages unit, fifth graders were able to practice their archery in our soccer field this morning. Lucy Morris, from NESA (New England School of Archery) spent time this morning, teaching the kids how to use a bow and arrow. The kids all participated and were able to shoot one or two arrows at given targets. All of the kids did a great job! There were many bullseyes hit! 🎯 Thank you Lucy!

The boys Hawks lacrosse team traveled to Auburn on Friday to play in their first semi final game in school history. The team went down early on however dug deep and battled back knocking on Auburn’s door throughout the game. With only a couple of minutes remaining in the match the Hawks evened the score at 7. At the one minute mark the boys had gained possession once again and were attempting to take the lead. With only seconds remaining Cam S scooped a loose ball in-front of the crease and buried a shot sending the first ever HMS boys lacrosse team to the championship game. From the goal tending to the attack each and every player laid everything on the line and executed their positions perfectly. Only one more game is standing between us and completing our season goal, winning it all.

The Hawks boys lacrosse team played Derryfield in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. They were able to make short work of their opponent and come away with a 10-3 win. The entire team contributed to the first ever playoff game in school history. In addition to the win the 8th graders were honored in a “senior night.” Those that are departing from us to advance their skills at Pinkerton are Landon O, Cam S, Myles B, Justin B, Ben W, Anthony P, Aiden L and Callum E. Congratulations to you all. Now let’s get after it in the semi finals.
